Fish oil, Joint pain and CV health

According to researchers in the United States, fish oils have absolutely no positive effect on heart health at all. The authors of a study discovered that not only did 74% of more than 2800 supplements made more than one health claim (positive outcomes for joint, heart, eye, brain and immune function) which was unsubstantiated but the evidence for consuming eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the active ingredients in fish oil to reduce blood pressure and coronary heart disease was inconsistent and inconclusive. In addition the advised dosage varied from brand to brand.

The researchers, who published their findings online https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamacardiology/article-abstract/2808769?guestAccessKey=c0dd75d6-3fe6-46c4-bab7-44ed4535af9c&utm_source=For_The_Media&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ftm_links&utm_content=tfl&utm_term=082323 Stated that it would be better to spend one’s money on fresh vegetables and gym membership.

Adding fresh veg to one’s diet may reduce the consumption of ultra-processed foods simply because you cannot fit any more on your plate but it’s not a bad thing. The less doctored a food is the better it is (mostly). Going out to the gym, walking the dog, increasing strength, mobility and endurance has also got to be good.
