An article in Medscape this week stated that waiting list times for treatment on the NHS in August rose from 7.68 million people to 7.75 million. This is the highest number since recording began in August 2007.
Nearly 9000 people in England were waiting 18 months to start routine treatment. Almost 400,000 people have been waiting more than 52 weeks for routine hospital treatment. The numbers are difficult to comprehend and in those numbers there will be some very sick people. There will also be people in those figures who need help for uncomplicated problems linked to mechanical pain.
Osteopaths are known for their abilities treating spinal pain but we have broader abilities. We also see people with:
Sciatica
Joint pain
Foot and ankle problems
Arthritis
Muscular pain
Headaches
Sports injuries
Pain in pregnancy.
We only have face to face appointments, our questioning is generally in depth and we will examine the area of pain and all the structures linked and possibly involved in the picture. We take time to work out what is wrong and then, when we understand
It we use hands on treatment to improve function and reducing pain.
Is osteopathy infallible? No, not by a long shot but, on the occasions we are unable to help we will send you to your GP with a letter describing our physical findings from our hands-on assessment, which should cut out some of the waiting time. We can also refer, privately to consultants if people wish to go direct. It is very unusual to have to follow this line. The success rate with hands-on, face to face treatment tends to be high.
Lastly, Osteopathy has short waiting lists. So, if you want effective hands-on, face to face treatment in a timely fashion, call an osteopath. Here is a number, a booking link and a website. They happen to be ours, there are others round too.
